The three day training will provide LPCs and LMFT's the 20 contact hours required to supervise LPC residents. Participants attending the workshop in its entirety will receive an NBCC Verification Form documenting 20 NBCC Continuing Education Hours (includes 2 hours ethics), fulfilling the Virginia LPC supervision requirements.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION TRAINING

NBCC CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS

The three day training will provide LPCs and LMFTs the 20 contact hours required to supervise LPC residents.  Participants attending the workshop in its entirety will receive an NBCC Verification Form documenting 20 NBCC Continuing Education Hours (includes 2 hours ethics),  fulfilling the Virginia LPC supervision requirements.

SCHEDULE

Thursday: 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm (4 Hours, 1 hour break)

Friday:  8:30 am - 5:30 pm (8 Hours, 1 hour lunch break on your own)

Saturday: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm (8 Hours, 1 hour lunch break on your own)

 

REGISTRATION FEE:  Registration fee includes training and materials.  Participants will have a one-hour lunch break on their own, on Friday & Saturday.

Fees to attend are as follows and space is limited

  • Thursday, Friday & Saturday:  $400 VCA Members;  $450 Non-Members
  • Thursday, Friday & Saturday + VCA Membership:  $475

Presenters

LaConda Ambrose Fanning, PsyD is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) who is professionally trained in Counseling and Clinical Psychology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and certifies as a Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional. Dr. Fanning is a Clinical Director for Christian Psychotherapy and oversee supervision for many Residents in counseling; as well as, intern and practica students for over 10 years. Dr. Fanning is also an adjust professor in the Community Mental Health Counseling Program and the Psychology Program at Norfolk State University.

Susanne Preston-Josey, PhD is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia.  She is also a National Certified Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.  Dr. Preston-Josey runs her own successful private practice, Virginia Beach Counseling Services, and is a full time professor at South University.  Dr. Preston-Josey has a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and over ten years of experience supervising master’s level students on site, other clinicians at her private practice, and Residents in Counseling.

Learning Objectives

·        Distinguish between supervision, consultation and teaching

·        Describe the major models of supervision currently being used

·        Examine the various legal and ethical challenges of supervision

·        Clarify the responsibilities involved for both the supervisor and supervisee

·        Develop a contract with a supervisee, define parameters and expectations and keep appropriate records for supervision

·        Review the model techniques that will enhance the effectiveness of the supervision process

·        Understand the process of the supervisory relationship

·        Identify the developmental stages of the supervisee, and know how to most effectively match supervisor style to the

·        Develop a personal model for clinical supervision

Virginia Counselors Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 2047. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  Virginia Counselors Association is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Cancellation Policy:To receive a full refund, minus a $10 administrative fee, registrants must cancel at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of the workshop.  Cancellations and/or no shows with less than a 72 hour (3 days) notice can either receive a credit for the registration fee to be applied toward a future VCA-sponsored workshop, annual VCA Convention, VCA membership, transfer the registration to another person OR request a refund minus a $50 fee.
