VCA President’s Message

Letter from the President

Greetings from the Virginia Counselors Association!

Thank you for the honor of allowing me to serve as the 2016-17 VCA President. My name is Helen Runyan and I am a School Counselor at heart, but also a Counselor Educator, Licensed Professional Counselor, and lover of all things “counseling.” Although I had a rather unconventional rise to the presidency, I am dedicated, motivated, and committed to making a positive difference in VCA this year.

Prior to becoming VCA President, I was the 2015-16 Co-President of the Virginia Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development. With the help of a newly formed Executive Board, I led a successful rejuvenation of this VCA division, including the creation and rewarding execution of our very own VAMCD Conference. I would like to encourage you to step up in your particular division(s) and/or chapter to help us take this wonderful organization to the next level. We have a variety of divisions in which you can share your experience, expertise and passion within specialty area(s) and/or interest(s). Please visit the VCA website – http://www.vcacounselors.org – for a list of divisions and chapters you can join. Also, please consider becoming a member of VCA, if you aren’t already! Try something new this year, join a new Division, your local chapter or volunteer for a leadership position.

Thank you for allowing me to lead the charge for this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.

Sincerely,

Helen Runyan, PhD, LPC, NCC

President
